Carrington Rally

2019 is the 60th Anniversary of Carrington Rally which is held each Spring Bank Holiday weekend near Boston in Lincolnshire. The rally prides its self in being one of the few "traditional steam and vintage rallies" surviving in the UK.
For this very Special Anniversary Event which has been in the planning stage for almost two years now, the rally has made the decision to theme the entire rally around "Made and Supplied in Lincolnshire" our home county, once known as "The Bread Basket of England" in agriculture, hence why at one time there was so many steam engine and equipment manufacturers producing agricultural equipment not only for the home market but to export around the world.
The steam, tractor and stationary engine sections will be bursting at the seams with entries from Companies like Foster, Clayton and Shuttleworth, Robey, Marshall, Hornsby and Ruston Hornsby. Ther will also be a display of farm implements many of them horse drawn from Companies like Cooke, Edlington, Rainforth, Hodgson, Pettit, Martin Markham and many other local blacksmith made items. The horticultural section will be featuring the famous Wright hand tools made in Holbeach, with some equipment on display from the original manufacturing workshop.
Within the theme of "Supplied in Lincolnshire" the aim is to revive many items of interest supplied by local dealers over the years, many names like Achurch of Horncastle, Grattons of Boston, Leverton's of Spalding and many more which are now all gone and part of our local history.
As the first "Military Tank" was made by Fosters in Lincoln we have already secured an enthusiastic display from "The Friends of the Lincoln Tank" Group.
Carrington Rally is well known for still having many early pre 1930 tractors on display, this year they hope to have most of the few remaining in England British Wallis tractors at the rally, these were built in Lincoln by Ruston Hornsby and one at the show will be driving an original Hornsby threshing machine.
Over recent years we have seen the "Club Stand Section " expand rapidly at the rally with interesting displays and themes to enhance our show, so far plans from last years champions "The Ferguson Club" reveals they will be putting together a display of Ferguson and M-F tractors all with Lincolnshire registration numbers. The NVTEC East Anglia Group have plans for their stand to re create as many exhibits as possible from the 1919 Lincoln Tractor Trials.
